Chris Artabasy (b. 1968, Wisconsin) is an abstract painter based in Atlanta, Georgia, with a studio in Serenbe. He received his degree in Fine Art and Visual Communications from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and brings more than two decades of experience in advertising and design to his painting practice.
Working in oil, acrylic, gouache, and charcoal, Artabasy builds layered compositions that move between gestural freedom and geometric structure. Translucent fields of color, looping lines, and shifting planes overlap, intersect, and recede, creating a visual rhythm that balances density with openness, movement with stillness, and control with spontaneity.
Influenced by music, place, and experience, Artabasy translates the rhythms, atmosphere, and memories of the places he encounters into abstraction. Organic gestures coexist with architectural forms, allowing fragments of landscape, sound, and memory to emerge and dissolve within the work. His paintings are intended to be experienced before they are explained, inviting viewers to find their own associations within the space between the recognizable and the abstract.
Artabasy has exhibited nationally and internationally, with work held in private and corporate collections worldwide.
